I want all words on this website to be mine—straight from my head.

When I communicate with someone through text, I want to hear their words, their thoughts, their context. Putting one’s speech through a large language model (LLM) fundamentally flattens that out; it strips away a fundamental aspect of one’s self from the text.

I’ve talked a bit about the idea of cognitive fitness. Here’s an archive.is link to read Cal Newport’s NYT article which coined the term, if you’re interested. I agree with Cal’s take that the acts of unassisted reading and writing are fundamentally important to one’s cognition. Essentially, I want to treat this website as a sort of gym for my mind.

I do use AI is in the development of this website. My main tool of use is Claude Code. This is strictly for things like adding features, modifying layouts, etc. I do think this is a legitimate use of AI for my needs, as it does not modify the words that I write.

My words are the fundamental basis for communicating who I am as a person to others and I want to say as authentic as possible. So my promise is that all words that you read through this site are straight from me.
